T. sp. 'Belem' is one of the most difficult plants from its genus to grow and can only be recommended to the most serious of hobbyists. This plant requires very intense lighting (3 watts per gallon or more), CO2 supplementation, and soft water (GH and KH readings should not exceed 5 degrees respectively). As with all species from its genus, T. sp. 'Belem' will appreciate an acidic substrate such as Aquasoil or Florabase. Ample iron in the water column is required to maintain the bright green coloration that is characteristic of healthy specimens.
