English name: Yellow Shrimp Scientific name: Neocaridina heteropoda var. yellow Origin: Japan Size male/female: 2.5 cm / 3 cm or 1 inch / 1,2 inch Water temperature: 15 - 28 °C or 59 - 82 °F Water Parameters: pH 6.5 - 7.5 High or low breeding form: high Behaviour: non-agressive Difficulty: easy Description: Yellow form of red cherry shrimp. Some people say it´s a breeding form, others told me that they are found in nature. Like cherry shrimps the females are more colorfull. "Saddle" and eggs are yellow. Older shrimps have a more intensive color but even young ones are yellow. Of course they can crossbreed with other species of Neocaridina heteropoda and maybe Neocaridina cf. zhangjiajiensis (I´m not sure about that, I don´t keep them together).
My experience on this species: I keep them in tanks without heater or cooling system. They can live in a wide range of water parameters. It´s a prolific species like other Neocaridina heteropoda.
