= Recommended care: A 65-75 cm aquarium, with a 3-5 cm sandy soil, and some suitable plants in the background. There should be present some snailshells in the sand. Fish use these snailshells as a hiding places. They also build their territorium around it. Gold ocellatus can be kept in a community tank with small and peaceful cichlids. Peronally, I think it would look nice if they're kept in a species tank.
Recommended feeding: They accept the live food mostly.
Breeding: Usually, about 30 eggs are produced. The female will continue to care for the fry for one week. Then, she or the fry should be removed. The fry can be fed on artemia nauplii and other small food.
